AWS C8i-flex is a lower-cost variant of the C8i compute-optimized family, powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors (x86_64) with a sustained 3.9 GHz all-core turbo frequency. AWS states it is priced ~5% lower with ~5% better price/performance, and it can reach full CPU performance 95% of the time for workloads that don’t fully utilize compute resources continuously. There is no announced retirement for C8i-flex as of January 2026.
