AWS F2 is the second-generation FPGA-accelerated EC2 family, pairing AMD EPYC (Milan) host CPUs with Xilinx/AMD Virtex UltraScale+ VU47P FPGAs. It is the first FPGA-based EC2 family to include 16 GB of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) per FPGA and scales up to 8 FPGAs per instance for high-throughput acceleration. There is no announced retirement for F2 as of Jan 2026.
